F:\DPF\\Monday News\Willimantic Prospectors # 1 June 19 2009\These folks were recently seen prospecting in Jilson Square in Willimantic. Jeff and Joanne Misak came there from Putnam, but Jeff had grown up in Willimantic. He said that he remembered when he was a kid, the Jilson Square area was full of buildings and maybe some of the lost metal objects of years ago may still be there. The couple took up metal detecting 5 years ago. Their best find was made in Putnam, an 1842 one cent coin. It is about the size of a half dollar and in great shape. Since they began, they have found about $160 in coins and several rings - all of which they still retain in their collection. Coming to Jilson Square by chance, just a couple days after the circus was there, gave them hope of some good finds.\Al Malpa
