Volunteer Darrell Day inserts spacers to level an ice rink frame Wednesday afternoon for RiverPark Center's sixth annual Winter Wonderland on the BB&T Plaza. "They will haul sand in and cover it with plastic," Day said. "They have a heck of crowd that comes down here." Roxi Witt, general manager at the center, said it will open on Nov. 27, the Friday after Thanksgiving. "The rink is going to be larger than last year," Witt said.

Jacob Wilkerson holds on to a street sign atop his unicycle while waiting for traffic heading east on Fourth Street to stop Monday, so he could safely cross the at the intersection of J.R. Miller Boulevard, he said. Wilkerson has been riding a unicycle for 20 years and was, "just out riding around and enjoying the weather," he said. He can also ride the unicycle backwards and, "bunny hop," making the bike bounce while riding it, he said.

Recreation supervisor Angel Freels staples black plastic in place Wednesday afternoon in preparation for today's opening of the 20th annual Ghosts and Goblins at Moreland Park. She was hanging decorations in Casper's Friendly Castle. Freels works for the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Department. "The Trail of Treats start at 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.," Freels said. "We have 26 booths. The kids can safely trick-or-treat in the park." Friday?s activities begin at 5:45 p.m. and include a dog costume contest, story telling by the Daviess County Public Library, the Search for the Great Pumpkin and the showing of the movie "Barnyard." All activities are free except for the Search for the Great Pumpkin, which is $1 per person, according to a press release. The winner will receive a $100 savings bond. Participants in the search should bring a flashlight that is no larger than two D batteries. The search begins 7 p.m. and will be followed by the movie. Events are from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. The day will include music, games, activities led by Disc Daddies, free inflatables, magic shows at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and a children's costume contest at 3:15 p.m. The costume con
