Ed Krampe uses a hammer and chisel to ready the brick wall for repair work at Mayfair Square near Owensboro Medical Health System's HealthPark on Tuesday. Krampe was helping his friend Tony Hayden with the job. Hayden, a contractor, said he is suppose to be retired, "but they keep calling." The repair work will take a week. Hayden said the wall was built in the 1950s and he feels the spots that are in need of repair is due to the age of the structure.

Beaver Dam Elementary school sixth-grade teacher Beth Wilson, center, goes over the student code of conduct book with her students Tuesday, the first day back in the classroom for Ohio county public school students this fall. The school building is new this year after the old school was closed, it's contents sold and public auction, and the structure torn down.

Project superintendent Dennis Hardesty of Rockville holds the original sandy soil of the banks of the Ohio River on Thursday at the foot of Frederica Street as the riverfront development project continues. Hardesty works for Hall Contracting of Kentucky. Owensboro was known as the Big Yellow Banks in the late 1700s.

Tommy Brown looks for wet spots on his 1917 Ford Roadster hotrod after washing the antique car Friday morning inside Cars Plus Auto Sales at Texas Avenue and West Second Street. "These thingsa are bad about water spots," Brown said. Brown and his stepfather, Tom Kase, were preparing the car for today's Promiseland Car Show on the riverfront in Livermore. Brown said the car has a 327hp Chevy engine but doesn't know what kind of mileage he gets."I don't know, it doesn't have a gas guage," he said.
