Ballard also helps cook with Our Lady of Lourdes cooking team. "I went to bed about midnight and got up about 3 a.m.," Ballard said. "Bar-B-Que Festival is a marathon."

St. Mary of the Woods team member Michael "Doodle" Morris of Whitesville flips mutton Friday afternoon during the 31st annual International Bar-B-Que Festival. "There's about 700 pounds of meat on the smoker," Morris said. The rain had caused the breaker to trip. They were using a small fan to blow the heat through the cooker. They were smoking mutton and pork butts.
