As policymakers gear up for December?s international climate talks in Copenhagen, climate change activists scheduled more than 45,000 events in 173 countries Saturday. The massive outpouring is meant to encourage policymakers to cut carbon concentration levels from approximately 380 to 350 parts per million. The 350.org International Day of Climate Action in Riverhead began Saturday at Peconic Riverfront park with 30-mile bike ride and 7.4-mile bike ride. Street fair was all afternoon with music by a band called 'Funkin-A' which was powered by a 'Go Solar' photovoltaic panel and a group photo shoot was taken as part of worldwide day of environmental action. Local Sierra Club activists Jessica Helm, Kelli Hughs, Bill Stegemann and Anna Lam helped organize the Riverhead event.
